Two of the first residents to move into Erris Homes’ Calder Mews development in Greetland are delighted with their new home, and full of praise for our approach to housebuilding.

Luke and Millie Durbak are happily settled into their three-bedroom semi-detached Birkdale, along with their two dogs Floki and Freya. After marrying in September, the couple reserved off-plan and took advantage of Erris Homes’ Smart Move scheme to speed up the sale of their existing home. Under the terms of Smart Move, Erris arranged an independent valuation, agreed a suitable selling price with Luke and Millie, worked with a trusted local estate agent to take care of the whole process, and paid the agent’s fees when the sale was complete.

Millie, head of marketing at a local e-commerce gifting company, explained their decision to choose Calder Mews:

“We both have family in the Greetland area, and I became aware of Calder Mews very early on. Luke and I were living in a nearby house which he has owned for a few years. We decided to take a look at the development with a view to buying a house together. There was no show home to view at the time, but we could see what a great setting it has, and the size and design of the Birkdale was perfect for us. The plot also has a good-sized garden with an excellent aspect and lots of potential which really appealed to us. I work at Dean Clough and Luke is a personal trainer at the nearby Body Station gym, so the location is an ideal commuter base for us – it’s only 10 to 15 minutes from the town centre.”

Luke, a former rugby player at Elland RLFC, was impressed with Erris Homes’ customer care, both before and after the sale:

“It’s been a very positive homebuying experience. When we opted for Smart Move, Bramleys estate agents were very efficient in finding a sale for my house, and Erris have been fantastic throughout - I can’t fault them at all. Since moving in, they have literally come straight over whenever we had any issues or needed any advice on things like appliances. Floki and Freya love it here, with plenty of local walks to enjoy, and Erris even built them a little path free of charge. Millie and I are very excited to be enjoying our first summer in the new garden. As soon as we moved in here, it felt right and felt like home.”
