5 minutes with Jeanette Holmes

Doncaster-based interior designer Jeanette Holmes is the quirky creative behind our brand-new Orchard Croft show home in High Green, Sheffield. We sat down with Jeanette ahead of our launch this weekend to discuss how she crafted the concept for The Malham and what visitors can expect when visiting the home on Saturday.

How did you create the concept for The Malham?

Our objective whenever we approach a new-build home is to create a lifestyle and not simply a show home. At Orchard Croft, we have adopted a very on-trend industrial urban loft-style feel with a striking colour palette of orange, grey, steel and black.

When drawing up the designs for this show home, we aimed to incorporate some of Sheffield’s unique industrial qualities with its quirky new modern side. We’ve added some rustic elements such as reclaimed wood, concrete and stained metals but we've injected these pieces with a trendy contemporary twist in order to fully embody the character of Steel City.

How will this appeal to visitors?

We’re confident The Malham will appeal to all age groups. The stylish and contemporary feel makes good use of the abundant space available, and from the minute people walk through the door they will be able to envisage their own dream home.

When we created the concept for Orchard Croft, we took into consideration the area, the space available and our typical buyers. Our customers would typically shop at Next or John Lewis, so it was important that we present a lifestyle that is both on-trend and affordable.

Which is your favourite room in the house?

I like them all, but I do particularly like the second bedroom on the first floor (above, left). The soft greys are very calming, and I feel this room presents a perfect balance between the modern and the industrial looks we’ve infused into the show home.

What can people expect from a free consultation with you on Saturday?

I’ll be on hand on Saturday to offer a greater insight into the design of the show home and give a little inspiration on how visitors can achieve their own show home look. I am excited to say that visitors will also be able to purchase some of the furniture on display at a fraction of the retail price through a service I am offering to Erris customers!
